Criminal Case Initiated on Transportation of Illegally Felled Trees and Using Violence against Representatives of Authorities

Within the framework of the criminal case initiated in Berd Investigative Division of Tavush Regional Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee according to the Point 5 of the Part 2 of the Article 296 and the Part 1 of the Article 316 of RA Criminal Code investigative and other procedural actions are conducted to find out circumstances of transportation of timber from trees felled illegally, as well as using violence against police officers and forestry staff.

Pursuant to initial data, on November 30, 2021 at about 03:00 at the area of “Artsvaberd forestry” branch of “Hayantar” SNCO the police officers of Tavush Police Division stopped the truck of “UAZ” make without a plate number, loaded with timber after which the driver of the mentioned car fled.

While moving the car to the specially protected area of Tavush Police Division to verify the legality of timber transportation some residents of Ttujur village of Gegharkunik region obstructed the movement of the truck loaded with timber then scolding and pulling the police officers and forestry staff, as well as threatening to use violence against those who were moving the truck hindered the police officers and forestry staff carrying out their service duties.

During preliminary investigation of the criminal case a number of persons were questioned, forensic medical examinations were commissioned.

Preliminary investigation is ongoing.

Note; Everyone charged with alleged crime offence shall be presumed innocent until proved guilty according to law.
