Information on Results of Criminal Cases on Crimes Committed against Children Investigated in 2020 in Proceeding of RA Investigative Committee

In 2020 328 criminal cases on crimes committed against children have been investigated and 190 materials on crimes committed against children have been prepared in the proceeding of the RA Investigative Committee (hereafter referred to as the Committee).

In the mentioned period 2 of the above-mentioned 328 criminal cases on crimes against children referred to murder envisaged by the Article 104 of RA Criminal Code, 4 – to causing death by negligence envisaged by the Article 109 of RA Criminal Code, 3 – to causing to commit suicide envisaged by the Article 110 of RA Criminal Code, 12 - infliction of willful heavy bodily damage to health envisaged by the Article 112 of RA Criminal Code, 4 – to infliction of willful medium-gravity damage to health envisaged by the Article 113 of RA Criminal Code, 5 – to infliction of willful light damage to health envisaged by the Article 117 of RA Criminal Code, 51 - to battery envisaged by the Article 118 of RA Criminal Code, 14 - willfully causing strong physical pain or mental sufferance envisaged by the Article 119 of RA Criminal Code, 1 – to inflicting grave damage by negligence envisaged by the Article 120 of RA Criminal Code, 4 - kidnapping envisaged by the Article 131 of RA Criminal Code, 4 - to trafficking or exploitation of a child or a person deprived of opportunity to realize his actions or control them caused by mental disorder envisaged by the Article 132.2 of RA Criminal Code, 4 – to  threat to murder, to inflict heavy damage to health or to destroy property envisaged by the Article 137 of RA Criminal Code, 4 – to rape envisaged by the Article 138 of RA Criminal Code, 21 – to violent sexual actions envisaged by the Article 139 of RA Criminal Code, 1 – to forcing to sexual intercourse or other sexual actions envisaged by the Article 140 of RA Criminal Code,  33 – to sexual intercourse or other sexual acts with a person under 16 envisaged by the Article 141 of RA Criminal Code, 14 – to lecherous acts envisaged by the Article 142 of RA Criminal Code, 1 – to illegal collecting, keeping, use and dissemination of information pertaining to personal or family life envisaged by the Article 144 of RA Criminal Code, 1 – to involving a minor into committal of crime envisaged by the Article 165 of RA Criminal Code, 6 – to illegal separation of the child from the parents or substitution of the child envisaged by the Article 167 of RA Criminal Code, 14 – to preventing a parent or other close relative from having a child visit envisaged by the Article 167.1 of RA Criminal Code, 8 - to sale and purchase of child for the purpose of taking up care envisaged by the Article 168 of RA Criminal Code, 2 – to divulging the secret of adoption or forcing consent to adoption envisaged by the Article 169 of RA Criminal Code, 4 – to reporting false information to Civil Status Act Registration Bodies envisaged by the Article 169.1 of RA Criminal Code, 2 – to  failure to fulfill or improperly fulfill the duty of raising a child envisaged by the Article 170 of RA Criminal Code, 15 – to willful evasion from supporting one’s child by the parent envisaged by the Article 173 of RA Criminal Code and 94 other crimes.

Within the above-mentioned criminal cases 157 persons have been involved as a defendant, moreover 1 of them has been between 14 and 16, 6 – between 16 and 18, 84 – between 18 and 35, 66 – over 35.

13 of the 157 persons have had higher, 119 – secondary, 9 – vocational, 16 – elementary education.

7 of the mentioned persons have been previously convicted.

Within the criminal cases in the proceeding there have been 328 injured 180 of which have been under 12, 33 – between 12 and 14, 73 – between 14 and 16, 42 – between 16 and 18.

In 2020 187 criminal cases on crimes committed against children have been completed.

Proceeding of 109 criminal cases has been terminated 69 of which on acquittal, 40 – on non-acquittal base.

78 criminal cases on 87 persons have been sent to court with the bill of indictment.

Proceeding of 40 criminal cases has been suspended 2 of which on the base that the defendant has been seriously ill or out of borders of the Republic of Armenia, 8 – on the base that the person has been under prosecution, 30 – on other bases.

In the mentioned period 17 criminal cases have been combined, 8 have been sent according to subordination.

76 criminal cases have been incomplete.
