Investigation Conducted to Find out Circumstances of Using Violence against Police Officers in Yeghegnadzor Town
On July 9, 2020 at about 19:20 while carrying out their service duties in Narekatsi Street of Yeghegnadzor town the police officers, noticing that the driver of “Mercedes Benz C 180” make was not wearing a mask in case he had a passenger, stopped the car. However, the driver of the car did not obey their legal demands, did not present a document and escaped in the car.
Finding and apprehending him for not carrying out the police officers’ legal demands and the requirements of the Commandant’s decision N 92 two residents of Yeghegnadzor approached the police officers. They scolded them, hindered the implementation of their legal actions. One of them – 34 year-old man used violence not dangerous for life and health against the police officers; he hit one of them on the abdomen and chest with a fist causing physical pain, tore the latter’s badge and pushed him to the ground after which he hit the other police officer on the face with an elbow causing physical pain.
A criminal case was initiated in Yeghegnadzor Police Division according to the Part 1 of the Article 316 (violence against representative of authorities) preliminary investigation of which is conducted in Vayots Dzor Regional Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee.
Signature not to leave was chosen as a pretrial measure against 34 year-old resident of Yeghegnadzor.
Preliminary investigation is ongoing.
