Materials of Criminal Proceeding on Murder of Resident of Akori Village Committed in August, 2022 Sent to Court

Preliminary investigation of the criminal proceeding initiated on murder of the resident of the village of Akori was completed in Lori Regional Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee.

In the result of necessary investigative and procedural actions the circumstances of the case were found out.

Particularly, on August 15, 2022 the body of the resident of the village of Akori with firearm injuries on the abdomen and chest was taken to “Alaverdi Medical Center”.

At the same time 54 year-old resident of the village of Hagvi with a diagnosis of “lacerated wounds on the head, left eyeball injury, chest fracture” was also taken to hospital. The latter told that he had fired shots towards the resident of the village of Akori after which the latter’s relatives beat him.

By the facts obtained in the result of taken measures it was grounded that on the day before the accident the mentioned persons reached an arrangement that the resident of Hagvi should make the grass owned by the resident of Akori into bales.

On the morning of August 15 the resident of Hagvi village in his tractor arrived in the field owned by the resident of Akori village. Seeing that there was little grass he refused to make it into bales. After it the resident of Akori called the resident of Hagvi and scolded him and his family after which in the evening the latter, taking the hunting gun of “IZh 39” model registered in his name, went to the mentioned field and with the intent to deprive of life, fired two shots towards the resident of Akori causing bodily injuries. On the way to hospital the latter died of the injuries incompatible with life.

Through investigation it was also found out that the victim’s son and nephew, who had been at the mentioned place and had witnessed the accident, hit the resident of Hagvi with hands and feet for numerous times causing bodily injuries.

On the base of the obtained sufficient evidence charge was pressed against the resident of Hagvi according to the Part 1 of the Article 155 of RA Criminal Code. Detention was used as a pretrial measure against him.

As for the count of infliction of bodily injuries to the resident of Hagvi, a decision was made by the investigative body to terminate the criminal prosecution against the victim’s son and nephew on the basis of release from criminal liability by reconciliation with the victim.

Preliminary investigation was completed. The prosecutor confirmed the bill of indictment and the materials of the criminal proceeding were sent to court.

Note; Everyone charged with alleged crime offence shall be presumed innocent until proved guilty according to law.
