Measures taken to find circumstances of hindrance to legal professional activity of chief editor of “Factor.am” site
Necessary investigatory and other professional measures are taken in General Department of Investigation of Particularly Important Cases of the RA Investigative Committee to find the circumstances of hindrance to legal professional activities of the chief editor of “Facor.am” site.
On April 18, 2018 the Union of Journalists of Armenia released a message informing that on the morning of April 18, 2018 during the events that took place at the junction of Mashtots – Tumanyan Streets of Yerevan unknown people used violence against chief editor of “Factor.am” site Arevik Sahakyan. Some young men dragged the journalist, tore off her journalist’s certificate as well as damaged the technique of the operator working at the place.
A criminal case was initiated in the RA IC General Department of Investigation of Particularly Important Cases according to the Part 1 of the Article 164 of RA Criminal Code on hindrance to the legal professional activity of the journalist by a group of people and forcing the journalist not to discriminate the information.
At the same time the investigator made a decision to combine the mentioned criminal case with the criminal case investigated on mass disorders at the junction of Mashtots –Tumanyan Streets of Yerevan on April 17, 2018 and to continue the preliminary investigation in one proceeding in order to provide the complete, objective and comprehensive investigation of circumstances of the criminal cases.
Preliminary investigation is ongoing. Measures are taken to find all circumstances of the cases.
Note; Everyone charged with alleged crime offence shall be presumed innocent until proved guilty according to law.
