A criminal case was initiated in the Investigative Division of Qanaqer-Zeytun administrative district of Yerevan Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee on 91 year-old woman’s murder out of mercenary motives combined with banditry.

On November 5, 2015 at 22:50 a call was received informing that the body of an elderly woman Siranush Karapetyan, born in 1924, was found in one of the houses at alley 1, Kamarak Str., Yerevan.

The investigatory-operative group left for the site. Through external examination of the body damages were found on the left occipital region of the head.

A criminal case was initiated in the Investigative Division of Qanaqer-Zeytun administrative district of Yerevan Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee according to the Point 8 of the Part 2 of the Article 104 of RA Criminal Code (murder out of mercenary motives, combined with banditry).

Through preliminary investigation it was found that murder had been committed from 18:10, November 4 to 22:50, November 5, 2015. In the result of numerous investigatory actions conducted in the framework of the criminal case the person having committed the apparent crime has been identified – he is Siranush Karapetyan’s grandson A. Karapetyan, born in 1987. The latter was arrested on suspicion of committing the murder.

The suspect A. Karapetyan confessed that he had been at his grandmother Siranush Karapetyan’s home and hitting with glass bottles the head of the elderly woman who was in bed in the bedroom stole her golden rings and money.

Preliminary investigation is ongoing.

Necessary investigatory and procedural actions are conducted to find the circumstances of the case.
