RA Ambassador to Israel Charged with Supporting to Abuses Committed by former Minister of Culture and Youth of RA as well as Legalization of Illegally Obtained Property
In the result of large-scale investigative and procedural actions conducted within the criminal case investigated in the Division of Investigation of Grave Crimes of Yerevan Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee a number of circumstances of supporting to abuses committed by the former Minister of Culture and Youth of the RA, as well as legalization of illegally obtained property committed by the RA Ambassador to Israel A.S. were found out.
Pursuant to data obtained through investigation RA Ambassador to Israel A.S., at the same time holding the position of the Chairman of “Armenian Society of Cultural Relations and Cooperation with Foreign Countries” NGO, supported the former Minister of Culture and Youth and the deputy chairperson of the mentioned NGO H.P. to make the land located at 3 Abovyan, Yerevan which was involved in the list of restrictions envisaged by the Article 60 of RA Land Code, the property of the NGO. Then through a formal transaction, with prior agreement with H.P., he sold the building of historical and cultural value and the land occupied by it for 550.000 USD to an off-shore company registered in British Virgin Islands owned by H.P.’s relative legalizing the illegally obtained property by distorting the real nature and source of the property.
On the base of the obtained sufficient evidence charge was pressed against A.S. according to the Part 2 of the Article 38-308 (supporting to abuse of authorities) and the Point 1 of the Part 3 of the Article 190 (legalizing illegally obtained income) of RA Criminal Code. Mortgage of 20.000.000 AMD was used as a pretrial measure against him.
It was earlier informed that within the mentioned criminal case the former Minister of Culture and Youth was involved as a defendant according to the Part 2 of the Article 308 and the Point 1 of the Part 3 of the Article 190 of RA Criminal Code and search was declared against her.
Preliminary investigation is ongoing.
Note; Everyone charged with alleged crime offence shall be presumed innocent until proved guilty according to law.
