The Chairman of the RA Investigative Committee Aghvan Hovsepyan today received the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the Republic of Armenia Seyyed Kazem Sajad.
 

The parties highly assessed the cooperation between the two countries in several spheres, discussed a wide range of issues of mutual interest. IRI Ambassador recorded that during the IRI President’s visit to Armenia certain agreements were achieved between the leaders of the two countries which opened a new window of cooperation. In this context development of cooperation between judicial bodies was highlighted.
 

The parties discussed the results of the RA IC Chairman’s visit to Tehran made recently and expressed confidence that it will promote the development of new mechanisms  contributing to efficiency of cooperation between the competent bodies.
 

The agreement on signing a program of joint actions between the RA Investigative Committee and the IRI Supervisory Board achieved during the visit was highlighted, in the framework of which joint discussions will be held on provision of legal aid within criminal cases, transnational crimes, including illegal turnover of drugs, disclosure of cyber and corruption crimes, peculiarities of investigation, exchange of experience will be conducted. The program project has already been developed and it has been planned that after its signature discussions will be held in border regions of the two countries, as well which will contribute to establishment of more direct and warmer relations between territorial subdivisions.
 

In Tehran A. Hovsepyan also visited the IRI Mejlis, had meetings with members of Judiciary Standing Committee during which the ratification of interstate agreement signed a day before on legal cooperation within criminal cases by the IRI Mejlis was highlighted. A. Hovsepyan recorded that in the framework of interdepartmental agreements good traditions and mechanisms have been formed between the competent bodies of the two countries and the ratification of interstate agreement can significantly enhance its quality.
 

Assessing positively the agreements achieved in Tehran during RA IC Chairman’s visit the parties achieved an agreement to discuss the procedures of their application in practice.
