Resident of Lori Province Arrested on Suspicion of Murdering his Mother
On 19 July, 2020 at 21:05 a call was received from a resident of Lori province informing that she could not get in touch with her mother living in Nersisyan district, Vanadzor.
The operative group and employees of Ministry of Emergency Situations immediately left for the mentioned address. They entered the apartment where they found 58 year-old resident of the same apartment, as well as blood-like traces in several parts of the apartment.
Pursuant to initial data, on 17 July, 2020 at about 17:00 for the purpose of illegal deprivation of life, 58 year-old man hit his 87 year-old mother with several household tools on different parts of her body murdering her, then dismembered her and took the parts of her body in polyethylene bags to the bin located in the same district and tried to burn them.
A criminal case was initiated in Lori Regional Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee according to the Part 1 of the Article 104 (murder) of RA Criminal Code preliminary investigation of which is conducted by an investigatory group.
During preliminary investigation a number of urgent investigatory and procedural actions were conducted.
Inspection of the scene with participation of the person having committed the alleged crime was conducted during which blood-like traces in several parts of the apartment, tools of the apparent crime – an axe, a saw, a hammer and a carpet with blood-like traces were found and taken.
It was found out that 58 year-old man with a diagnosis of residual schizophrenia was registered in a psychiatric dispensary.

On 20 July, 2020 at 09:30 through inspection of the scene conducted in the bin located in Arjut community of Lori province the parts of the body of 87 year-old woman were found.
A number of forensic examinations were commissioned to find out circumstances significant for the criminal case.
Preliminary investigation is ongoing.
