A criminal case was initiated in Syunik Regional Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee on using violence against police officers. Two persons were arrested.

The police officers of Sisian Police Division submitted reports informing that on January 19, 2020 at about 22:30 while carrying out their service duties two persons did not obey the legal demands of the police officers, argued with them using violence against them.

A criminal case was initiated in Sisian Investigative Division of Syunik Regional Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee according to the Part 1 of the Article 316 of RA Criminal Code.

In the result of measures taken jointly by the employees of RA IC Syunik Regional Investigative Department and Sisian Police Division a number of circumstances of the case were found out, the persons who had apparently used violence against police officers were identified; they are residents of Sisian, born in 1987 and 1982.

Pursuant to data obtained through investigation, on January 19, 2020 at about 22:30 the mentioned persons met police officers of Sisian Division who were carrying out their service duties in Sisian, made a remark in response to which police officers demanded relevant documents.

However, not obeying the police officers' legal demand they argued with them during which they used violence not dangerous for life against the police officers, particularly they pulled them about, tore their shoulder straps and hit them.

In the result of investigatory actions and operative measures the persons having committed the alleged crime were found and brought to the investigative body. They were arrested on suspicion of using violence against the police officers.

During preliminary investigation inspection of the scene and clothes, interrogations and confrontations were conducted.

Forensic medical examination was commissioned to find out circumstances significant for the criminal case. Instructions were given to Sisian Police Division.

Preliminary investigation is ongoing.
