51 year-old Man Arrested on Suspicion of Committing Banditry
Investigation is conducted in Gegharkunik Regional Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee to find out circumstances of banditry committed against the resident of Vardenis.
Pursuant to initial data, on December 20, 2021 at about 12:00 the person having committed the alleged crime, driving his car of “VAZ 21104” make used by him as a taxi, met 44 year-old resident of Vardenis at the gas station located in Sevan town. Learning that the latter wanted to leave for Vardenis, he offered to take him there for 5000 AMD. On the way they entered a restaurant located at the area adjacent to Sevan town where 44 year-old man gave 15.000 AMD to the driver for the provision of taxi service and food. At about 15:30 getting to the area adjacent to Drakhtik village, the driver of the mentioned taxi attacked 44 year-old man, pulling him out of the car pushed to the ground, hit him on the abdomen and pressing him on the throat with an item used as a weapon, demanded money. Then taking the whole money available in the man’s purse he fled.
A criminal case was initiated in Gegharkunik Regional Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee according to the Point 4 of the Part 2 of the Article 175 of RA Criminal Code.
During preliminary investigation inspection of the scene was conducted, forensic medical examinations were commissioned.
51 year-old taxi driver was apprehended on suspicion of committing banditry. He was arrested.
Preliminary investigation is ongoing.
