Necessary investigatory actions are conducted in General Department of Investigation of Particularly Important Cases of the RA Investigative Committee to find all circumstances of organizing the convict’s escape from “Armenia Medical Center” CJSC on October 2, 2017.

Taking the public interest into consideration we inform that the convict D. Galstyan, serving his term in “Artik” penitentiary, on October 2, 2017 was taken to the vascular surgery department of «Armenia Medical Center» CJSC accompanied by three employees of “Artik” penitentiary. 

Pursuant to actual data obtained through preliminary investigation, at about 15:20 the resident of Yerevan, born in 1988, entered the room of the mentioned ward and fired a shot to organize the convict D. Galstyan’s escape. Deputy Head of Security Division of the penitentiary A. Maruqyan managed to neutralize the armed person immediately after the first shot.

Taking advantage of the situation the convict, using violence against the employee of penitentiary, stole the rifle of “Makarov” model and fired shots. However, the same employee managed to impede the convict to fire sharp shots then neutralized him taking back the rifle. The convict escaped and was pursued by two employees of penitentiary. He was caught at the entrance with the help of security officer of the medical center and his escape was prevented.

On October 2, 2017 the young man, born in 1988, was arrested on suspicion of committing alleged crimes envisaged by the Points 1 and 2 of the Part 2 of the Article 34-104, the Part 1 of the Article 235, the Point 3 of the Part 2 of the Article 38-34-355 of RA Criminal Code.

During the inspection of the site 4 capsules of a bullet of 9 mm caliber, 3 balls, a deformed ball were found in the ward 7 of vascular surgery department of «Armenia Medical Center» CJSC and confiscated. Traces like firearm injuries were found on the ward walls, tiled floor, at the entrance of the bathroom door, on bed mattress, on the refrigerator in the room.

Investigatory actions of great volume are conducted in General Department of Investigation of Particularly Important Cases of the RA Investigative Committee to provide the comprehensive, objective and complete investigation.
