In the result of investigatory actions of great volume conducted in the framework of the criminal case investigated in General Department of Investigation of Particularly Important Cases of the RA Investigative Committee a group engaged in illegal turnover of narcotic drugs in particularly large amount was revealed, those selling and procuring it were identified. On the base of the obtained evidence charge was pressed against 7 persons including Ukrainian and Iranian citizens.
 

Through investigation of the criminal case initiated on November 16, 2016 on illegal turnover of narcotic drugs in the RA IC Investigative Division of Erebuni and Nubarashen administrative districts circumstances of selling drug of “Opium” type to the resident of Gyumri by IRI citizen in Yerevan were found. According to investigation data, IRI citizen with the purpose of sale illegally procured and kept narcotic drugs of “Opium” type in particularly large amount - 1.429.21 kg and 20 pills containing drug of “Buprenorphine” type 440.41 grams “Opium” drug of which on November 4, 2016 was illegally sold to the resident of Gyumri in M. Khorenatsi Street, Yerevan. On the same day the mentioned persons were apprehended and through their personal search the mentioned drugs were found.  
 

Another case of illegal turnover of narcotic drugs in particularly large amount was revealed in February, 2017 through criminal case investigated in the Investigative Division of Kentron and Norq-Marash administrative districts.
 

Three RA citizens, reaching prior agreement with a Ukrainian citizen, on 20 February, 2017 illegally procured 3611, 05 grams drug of “Opium” type from IRI citizen. On the same day they were apprehended. Through inspection of the car of one of them the mentioned drug was found, through another’s personal search a gun of “Makarov” model and 7 bullets of 9 mm caliber were found.
 

Through investigation actual data were obtained on the allegation that the mentioned two cases were interrelated and by the instruction of the Chairman of the RA Investigative Committee the mentioned two criminal cases were sent to General Department of Investigation of Particularly Important Cases of the RA Investigative Committee where they were combined in one proceeding. In the result of investigatory and other procedural actions conducted in the framework of the criminal case sufficient actual data were obtained that 8 persons were engaged in illegal turnover of narcotic drugs, their actions were individualized.
  

On the base of the obtained evidence charges were pressed against 7 persons - 4 of them RA citizens, 2 – IRI citizens, 1 Ukrainian citizen. Detention was chosen as a pretrial measure against them. Search was declared against one more IRI citizen.   
 

Preliminary investigation is ongoing. Necessary investigatory and operative-searching measures are taken to find the source of procurement of drugs and to identify other persons possibly engaged in their sale.
