In the result of investigatory actions of great volume conducted within the criminal case investigated in General Department of Investigation of Particularly Important Cases of the RA Investigative Committee a case of illegal turnover of narcotic drugs in particularly large amount – 2kg 400g was disclosed.

Pursuant to factual data obtained through preliminary investigation the man, born in 1982, who is Armenian, a citizen of Georgia was engaged with illegal turnover of narcotic drugs in Armenia. Through investigation it was found out that in a group with the purpose of selling he illegally procured narcotic drugs of several types in particularly large amount, including 303.32g of «Hashish» type, 3,2827g of «Methylenedioximethamphthamine» type, 1 kg 965g of «Spice» type and 123.41g of «Cocaine» type and kept in a rented apartment in Yerevan.

Through the criminal case 4 persons involved in the criminal group were identified, one of them is a female. Charge was pressed against the latter according to the Point 2 of the Part 3 of the Article 266 of RA Criminal Code and signature not to leave was chosen as a pretrial measure against her. Search was declared against two more defendants, the police subdivisions were tasked to take measures to find and bring them to the investigative body.

The Court of First Instance of Yerevan found permissible to use mortgage against the 4th defendant – 36 year-old man, Armenian, a citizen of Georgia defining 20 million AMD as a mortgage. During preliminary investigation data were obtained by the investigative body that the defendant, being in freedom, goes on with his criminal activity and an appeal was submitted by Prosecution Office. On January 10, 2019 the Court of Appeal found usage of mortgage impermissible and annulled the decision of the lower court. He was found in Yerevan, through personal search narcotic drugs of several types in particularly large amount, including 0.35g of «Cocaine» type, as well as 2.47g of crystalline mass like narcotic drug of «Methamphetamine» type, 10.92g brown, dust-like mass with a special odor like narcotic drug of «Spice» type were found.   
 

On the base of the obtained evidence a new charge was pressed against him according to the Point 2 of the Part 3 of the Article 266 of RA Criminal Code (2 counts) and detention was chosen as a pretrial measure against him.

Preliminary investigation is ongoing. Necessary investigatory and operative-searching measure are taken to identify all members of the criminal group engaged with illegal turnover of narcotic drugs and to personalize their actions.
