The Investigative Committee of the Republic of Armenia summed up the results of the work done in the first term of 2023 to recover the pecuniary damage found out within the criminal proceedings investigated in all subdivisions of the RA Investigative Committee.

Pursuant to it, in the mentioned period within the criminal proceedings, preliminary investigation of which was completed, pecuniary damage in the amount of 2 billion 735 million AMD caused by crime has been recovered.

Particularly,

• pecuniary damage in the amount of 2.022.936.000 AMD caused to the state,
• pecuniary damage in the amount of 31.374.000 AMD caused to communities,
• pecuniary damage in the amount of 136.309.000 AMD caused to legal entities,
• pecuniary damage in the amount of 544.479.000 AMD caused to natural persons

has been recovered.

In 2023 about 3 billion 400 million AMD was actually recovered as a result of the complete zeroing of the VAT obligations and tax losses artificially debited as a result of the apparent criminal activities of individual car importing organizations investigated in the RA Investigative Committee.

For comparison it should be mentioned that the total pecuniary damage recovered within the completed criminal proceedings and materials rejected on non-acquittal base in the subdivisions of the RA IC in 2022 was 1 billion 705 million AMD. That is the recovery index of the damage caused to the state, communities, legal entities and natural persons within completed criminal proceedings in the first term of 2023 exceeds the result of the whole 2022 by about 60.5%. 

The above-mentioned indices do not reflect the results of the work done by the General Department of Investigation of Smuggling and Economic Crimes of the RA Investigative Committee considering the fact that it has been involved in the RA Investigative Committee since January 1, 2023 and cannot be compared with the results of 2022. Nevertheless, pecuniary damage in the amount of 9 billion 690 million AMD caused to the state has been recovered within the completed and ongoing criminal proceedings investigated only by the mentioned department in the first term of this year.
