Preliminary investigation of the criminal proceeding initiated on murder of 56 year-old resident of Gegharkunik region committed in April, 2022 was completed in Gegharkunik Regional Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee.

By factual data obtained through preliminary investigation of the criminal proceeding initiated on the base of the report of the resident of Martuni town on her husband's disappearance, it was grounded that with the intent to steal the money available at his acquaintance engaged in currency exchange, 56 year-old resident of Gegharkunik region to pay his debts, on April 4, 2022 at about 18:00 near the market located on Myasnikyan Street of Martuni town 25 year-old resident of Geghahovit settlement met the latter with the intent to kill him. After a while they drove to the area next to the defunct stadium located on Getapnya Street, Martuni in the car of “OPEL ZAFIRA 1.6” make driven by 25 year-old young man. Carrying out the criminal intent at about 20:00 25 year-old man attacked the man in the car with a hunting knife illegally kept by him and stabbed the latter on different parts of his body causing numerous cut-pierced bodily injuries. The latter died of the bodily injuries incompatible with life.

Then the young man stole the money in particularly large amount - foreign currency and RA banknotes tantamount to 12.466.000 AMD in total, took off the clothes of the murdered man and hid the body in the trees on the right side of H.Harutyunyan street near the forest.  Shortly after the murder he paid a part of his debts with the stolen money.

On the base of the obtained factual data charge was pressed against 25 year-old resident of Geghahovit according to the Point 10 of the Part 2 of the Article 155 and the Part 1 of the Article 334 of RA Criminal Code. Detention was used as a pretrial measure against him.

Preliminary investigation was completed. The materials of the proceeding with the bill of indictment were sent to court.
