The defendant in the framework of the criminal case investigated in General Department of Investigation of Particularly Important Cases of the RA Investigative Committee Zhirayr Sefilyan on January 12 was invited to an investigatory action on which the defendant made various comments.

Taking citizens’ right to get verified information into consideration, we clarify that on January 12 at 17:00 Zh. Sefilyan was invited to additional interrogation as a defendant. He came to the investigative body with a lawyer and using his right he refused to testify, answer the investigator’s questions.

His rights and duties defined by law were clarified to him, including the procedure and obligations to preserve the conditions of pretrial measure chosen against him “signature not to leave”.

As for Zh. Sefilyan’s announcement that in the Investigative Committee he had been threatened to be detained if he did not stop his political activity published in mass media, it absolutely does not correspond to reality, the investigative body is an apolitical state institution and the announcements made for political purposes are not commented.
