Seminar-Discussion on «Awareness on Issues of Domestic and Sexual Violence, Development of Cooperation between Investigators and Reporters» (photos)
On November 29 and 30 seminar-discussion on «Awareness on the Issues of Domestic and Sexual Violence, Development of Cooperation between Investigators and Reporters» was held with the support of the International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs Office of the U.S. Embassy.
The Deputy Chairman of the RA Investigative Committee Arsen Ayvazyan and Adviser to legal cooperation of INL Program of the U.S. Embassy to Armenia Audie Hollowey made an opening speech at the seminar.
They attached importance to the awareness of issues on domestic and sexual violence as well as to the work done by the law enforcement bodies to prevent such cases.
During the seminar-discussion several subdivisions of the RA Investigative Committee and representatives of Mass Media were presented the domestic and international law on investigation of cases on domestic and sexual violence, the situation in Armenia, as well as the working style of U.S. Law enforcement bodies in investigation of cases on domestic and sexual violence, coverage of such cases by Mass Media, victim-centered approaches, multi-sectored cooperation through Family Justice Centers.
The analyses of cases investigated on sexual crimes and human trafficking from 2017 to 2019, the problems found, analyses of criminal cases investigated on domestic violence in the same period as well as peculiarities of providing information about the cases on domestic and sexual violence and those affected within the mentioned cases, the «permissible and non-permissible» rules of their coverage were also presented.
At the end of the seminar-discussion RA IC Deputy Chairman Arsen Ayvazyan thanked the participants for productive discussion. He thanked the representatives of the International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs Office of the U.S. Embassy Audie Hollowey and Maritsa Hovhannisyan, in particular, for the support in organizing the event.
The latters, for their part, assured that the cooperation with the RA Investigative Committee will be continuous and thanked the participants for the efficient discussion.
