Through investigation of the criminal case initiated in Vayots Dzor Regional Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee on murder of Vardush Simonyan and Gohar Barseghyan new circumstances have been found; another minor of the same region has been charged with inciting murder of the elderly women.

In the result of investigatory and procedural actions it was found that the minor resident of Yeghegnadzor town S. Z., born in 1998, through persuading incited the fellow townsman, minor N. Kh. to illegally deprive the resident of Yeghegnadzor town, Vardush Simonyan and the resident of Vernashen village, Vayots Dzor region Gohar Barseghyan of life and steal their golden earrings.

According to preliminary investigation data, having reached a prior agreement with N. Kh., on October 20, 2015 from 12:00 to 13:00 the minor resident of Yeghegnadzor town S. Z. went to Vardush Simonyan’s house located at 25, Isakov Str., Yeghegnadzor and on October 24, 2015 he went to Gohar Barseghyan’s house located in the village of Vernashen, Vayots Dzor.

According to prior agreement N. Kh. entered the elderly women’s houses and S. Z. guarded outside.

The golden earrings stolen from Vardush Simonyan and Gohar Barseghyan were later sold at gold trading centers and the money was managed by both of them.

It was earlier informed that on October 21, 2015 at about 10:00 a call was received informing that the body of the resident of Yeghegnadzor town Vardush Simonyan, born in 1924, was found in the yard of her house located at Isakov 25, Yeghegnadzor and on October 24, 2015 at about 19:00 a call was received informing that the body of the resident of the village of Vernashen, Vayots Dzor region, Gohar Barseghyan, born in 1939, was found in the lot located at one of the houses of the same village.

Through external inspection of the bodies traces of violence were found.

A criminal case was initiated in Vayots Dzor Regional Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee according to the Part 1 of the Article 104 of RA Criminal Code.

In the framework of the criminal case initiated on Vardush Simonyan’s murder 16 year-old N. Kh. confessed that Gohar Barseghyan also had been killed by him.

During the investigatory experimentation he described the circumstances of both murders.

On November 2, 2015 the criminal cases initiated on G. Barseghan and V. Simonyan’s murder were joint in one proceeding and charge was pressed against 16 year-old N. Kh. pursuant to the Points 1 and 8 of the Part 2 of the Article 104 of RA Criminal Code (murder of two or more persons out of mercenary motives).

On the base of the obtained evidence on November 4, 2015 S. Z. was arrested, on November 7, 2015 he was involved as a defendant. He was charged according to the Points 1 and 8 of the Part 2 of the Article 38-104 of RA Criminal Code.

On the same day the investigator submitted a motion to the Court of First Instance of Ararat and Vayots Dzor regions to use detention as a pretrial measure against him. The motion was sufficed.

Preliminary investigation is ongoing.

Necessary investigatory and procedural measures are taken to find all the circumstances of the case.

Note; Everyone charged with alleged crime offence shall be presumed innocent until proved guilty according to law.
