Memorandum of Understanding between the RA Investigative Committee and the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (photos, video)
The cooperation between the RA Investigative Committee and the Federal Bureau of Investigation of the US Department of Justice enters a qualitatively new cycle.
On May 16 at the RA Investigative Committee a memorandum of understanding was signed between the two bodies. It was signed by the Deputy Chairman of the RA Investigative Committee Arsen Ayvazyan and DoJ FBI Legal Attaché in Armenia and Georgia Heather Bergey.
The Chairman of the RA Investigative Committee Argishti Kyaramyan and the US Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Republic of Armenia Kristina Alison Kvien were present at this important event.
The memorandum of understanding is aimed at combining efforts of the RA IC and the US FBI and enhancement of efficiency in fight against transnational crimes.
It refers to fight against cybercrime, kidnapping, organized crime, illegal international activity in economic, financial and banking sectors among them money laundering, all forms of illegal migration, trafficking as well as other crimes.
Based on the memorandum the cooperation will be carried out through implementation of coordinated operations, exchange of information in law enforcement sector, strengthening collaborative relations established between the parties as well as methodological support in development of professional capacities.
During the meeting with the US Ambassador the Chairman of the RA Investigative Committee considered the signing of the memorandum extremely important, which will give an opportunity to regulate the legal cooperation between the two countries and make it more coordinated bringing it to a new qualitative dimension. The Chairman of the RA Investigative Committee expressed hope that the cooperation deepening day by day between the law enforcement bodies of the countries will be continuous.
In her part, Ambassador Mrs. Kristina Kvien considered the signing of the memorandum significant in terms of strengthening cooperation in all levels of international law enforcement bodies in fight against transnational crime, prevention of the increase in the threat of crime. She noted that the Embassy will continue deepening the cooperation between the RA and US law enforcement bodies.
