Maxime Longangué, Head of the Council of Europe Office in Yerevan Visited the RA Investigative Committee; Issues on Development of Cooperation Discussed (photos)

Argishti Kyaramyan, the Chairman of the RA Investigative Committee received today Maxime Longangué, the newly appointed Head of the Council of Europe Office in Yerevan,

Argishti Kyaramyan congratulated the guest on the occasion of assuming this responsible position and expressed confidence that his previous activities in Yerevan Office of the Council of Europe will contribute to continue the mission in Armenia with the highest efficiency.

The Chairman of the RA Investigative Committee noted that the reforms implemented in the sphere of human rights protection in Armenia, in law enforcement system are continuous and assessed highly the support shown to these processes by the Council of Europe. In the case of the RA Investigative Committee, it contributed to the development of the professional capabilities of human resources, involvement of the IC investigators in working groups within various programs of development of international cooperation in fight against crime and etc.

Maxime Longangué, the Head of the Council of Europe Office in Yerevan assessed effectively the cooperation with the RA Investigative Committee, the consistency shown by the Committee in bringing its main functions in line with European standards. He underlined that they are interested in the continuation of the support provided to the reforms of the judicial and legal sphere implemented in Armenia.

Issues on the events related to the functions of the RA Investigative Committee arising from the implementation of the Action Plan for Armenia for the period of 2023-2026 of the Council of Europe, strengthening the mechanisms for the human rights protection in the armed forces, development of the investigators’ capacities in the fight against torture, discrimination against women, as well as In the areas of application of the precedential law of the European Court and issues related to the possibilities of cooperation in other directions arising from the needs of the Republic of Armenia were discussed during the meeting.
