Chairman of the RA Investigative Committee Received U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary in the Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs Brandon Yoder; Issues of Cooperation Expansion Discussed (photos)

Argishti Kyaramyan, the Chairman of the RA Investigative Committee received Brandon Yoder, the U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary in the Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL) who was accompanied by Marie Kurth, Team Lead of Armenia, Georgia, Moldova of the U.S. Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs, and Alexis Haftvani, INL Office Director of the U.S. Embassy to Armenia.

Greeting the guests, Argishti Kyaramyan assessed highly the cooperation established between the RA Investigative Committee and the U.S. Embassy to the RA, particularly the INL Office. The training programs implemented within the framework of cooperation have had a large positive impact on professional development of the RA IC human resources, and the technical, programmatic and methodical support has contributed to the continuous improvement of the activity of the investigative body. Underlining the significance of memorandums of cooperation signed within a year with the Federal Bureau of Investigation of the U.S. Department of Justice (FBI) and Drug Enforcement Administration of the U.S. Department of Justice, from the point of view of closer cooperation with U.S. law enforcement bodies, Mr. Kyaramyan reaffirmed the willingness of the Investigative Committee to deepen cooperation.

U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary in the Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs Brandon Yoder also assessed highly the level and quality of mutual trust and cooperation. He welcomed the reforms carried out in the RA Investigative Committee aimed at increasing professionalism and efficiency, upgrading potential and institutional strengthening. Mr. Yoder also noted that there are new opportunities to expand cooperation in these directions, based on the needs of the RA Investigative Committee.

Possibilities aimed at the RA IC capacity development, as well as at increasing the efficiency of criminal-legal fight against individual crimes of a transnational nature, in particular illegal turnover of narcotic drugs, cybercrimes, money laundering and  gender-based violence, were discussed during the meeting.
