Newly Appointed Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the RA Paid a Visit to the RA Investigative Committee (photos)

On August 16 the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the Republic of Armenia Medhi Sobhani, paid a familiarization visit to the RA Investigative Committee. He was received by the Chairman of the RA Investigative Committee Argishti Kyaramyan.

The Chairman of the RA Investigative Committee first congratulated Mr. Sobhani on his appointment to the responsible diplomatic mission in Armenia, wished him success for the benefit of the common goals and close cooperation of the two countries with age-old friendship.

Argishti Kyaramyan underlined that a high level of cordial relations has developed between the law enforcement systems of the two states, and the Embassy of Iran in Armenia greatly contributed to the process of achieving this.

“Joint efforts made in the fight against transnational crimes, in particular drug smuggling, flexible mechanisms of bilateral cooperation in this field, which contributed to the rapid exchange of information on urgent issues arising in the field of criminal law and to their effective resolution on the basis of full respect for each other's legislation prove the deepening bilateral cooperation in recent years”, the Chairman of the RA Investigative Committee mentioned in his speech adding that the existence of the Consulate General of Iran in the RA Syunik Marz is also the best manifestation of the high-value Armenian-Iranian relations.

Ambassador Sobhani expressed confidence that it will be possible to expand the scope of cooperation on the basis of the trustful and cordial relations established between the RA Investigative Committee and the Embassy of Iran. Mr. Ambassador underlined the importance of disclosure of transnational crimes, particularly, drug smuggling, prevention of illegal border crossings and similar cases, at the same time, effective mechanisms for the protection of the rights of each other's citizens in terms of maintaining and developing the existing intensity of mutual visits of citizens of neighboring countries, economic relations and especially tourist visits.

The parties also exchanged ideas on expanding the directions of further cooperation between the RA Investigative Committee and the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the RA.

During the meeting issues on exchange of information on citizens undergoing criminal proceedings, ensuring the effectiveness of execution of investigative requests, increasing the efficiency of existing communication systems were also discussed.
