In the result of investigatory actions of great volume conducted within the criminal case investigated in Kotayk Regional Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee about four dozens of cases of theft in particularly large amount with prior agreement by a group of people were disclosed.

On November 15, 2018 a criminal case was initiated in Abovyan Investigative Division of Kotayk Regional Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee according to the Point 1.1 of the Part 3 of the Article 177 of RA Criminal Code on theft of household items from one of the houses in Dzoraghbyur, Kotayk province.

Besides, 8 criminal cases were initiated on cases of theft from summer houses in Ptghni and Dzoraghbyur communities of Kotayk province according to the Point 1.1 of the Part 3 of the Article 177 of RA Criminal Code.

Through investigation of the mentioned criminal cases it was found out that the ways of apparent thefts and stolen things are similar. Based on the combination of information obtained through criminal cases the investigative body came to conclusion that the mentioned crimes had been allegedly committed by the same people.

Investigatory and other procedural joint actions of great volume were conducted simultaneously within all criminal cases, operative-intelligence measures were taken. As a result, those having committed the alleged crime were identified; they are residents of Yerevan, born in 1984 and 1992.

Through preliminary investigation it was found out that in October-November, 2018 other thefts and theft attempts from houses in Dzoraghbyur and Ptghni communities of Kotayk province were committed in the same way by them.

Searches were conducted as prescribed by law and goods in large amount which did not belong to them were found and confiscated.

Inspections of the sites with participation of those having committed the alleged crime were conducted. 34 summer houses in Dzoraghbyur and 7 summer houses in Ptghni from which thefts and theft attempts were committed were pointed out by them.

A decision was made to join the 9 criminal cases investigated in Abovyan Investigative Division of Kotayk Regional Investigative Department and conduct investigation in one proceeding.

On the base of the obtained sufficient evidence charge was pressed against 34 year-old and 26 year-old men according to the Point 1.1 of the Part 3 of the Article 177(6 counts), Point 1.1 of the Part 3 of the Article 34-177 and the Points 1 and 3 of the Part 2 of the Article 34-177 of RA Criminal Code.

The investigator submitted a motion to court to choose detention as a pretrial measure against them which was sufficed.

Necessary investigatory and other procedural actions are conducted to identify other people possibly related to theft.

The relevant subdivision of the Police was tasked to take measures to identify the people having acquired the stolen items, as well as the owners of summer houses.

Forensic merchandising examination was commissioned to find out circumstances significant for the criminal case.

Preliminary investigation is ongoing. Necessary measures are taken to provide the comprehensive, complete and objective investigation of the case.

Note; Everyone charged with alleged crime offence shall be presumed innocent until proved guilty according to law.
