Preliminary investigation of the criminal case initiated on voting instead of another person in polling station N 39/39 was completed in Vayots Dzor Regional Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee.

Through preliminary investigation it was found and grounded that on December 6, 2015 at about 11:00 the resident of Vayots Dzor, V. Stepanyan participated in referendum on Constitutional reforms in polling station N 39/39. Then at about 12:30 he entered again the same polling station under pretext of voting instead of his brother, received the ballot and voted again. The mentioned circumstance was found by the head of precinct electoral commission Karine Habetyan and a written report was submitted to the police station of Vayq.

On the base of the obtained evidence charge was pressed against V. Stepanyan according to the Article 153 of RA Criminal Code. Signature not to leave was chosen as a pretrial measure against him.

The criminal case on his part with the bill of indictment was sent to the prosecutor supervising the legality of preliminary investigation. The bill of indictment was confirmed and the case was sent to court.

In the framework of the criminal case on January 20 the investigator made a decision to separate a proceeding on supporting V. Stepanyan to vote instead of another person preliminary investigation of which is ongoing.

Note; Everyone charged with alleged crime offence shall be presumed innocent until proved guilty according to law.
