In the result of investigatory and procedural actions of great volume conducted in the Investigative Division of Erebuni and Nubarashen administrative districts of Yerevan Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee murder of Yerevan resident N. Yaghutyan committed in 2005 was disclosed. One person was arrested.

On October 22, 2019 at 22:40 a report was submitted by a citizen in Erebuni Police Division informing that in 2014 her late father informed her that some years before her aunt, cousin and the latter's wife had hosted her other aunt in their house located in 11 Nor Aresh Street for a while, killed her there and hid the body.

A criminal case was initiated in Erebuni Police Division according to the Part 1 of the Article 104 of RA Criminal Code which was sent to the RA IC Investigative Division of Erebuni and Nubarashen administrative districts of Yerevan Investigative Department and was received in proceeding. An investigatory group was formed.

In the result of necessary investigatory and procedural actions conducted as well as operative-intelligence measures taken within the criminal case a number of circumstances of the case, the motive were found out, the person having committed the alleged crime was identified; he is a resident of Yerevan, born in 1972.

Pursuant to data obtained through investigation, the relatives of husband of N. Yaghutyan, born in 1937, being aware that Yaghutyan had a large amount of gold jewelry, with the purpose of possessing them killed the latter in their house located 11 Nor Aresh Street, stole the golden jewelry and buried the body in the basement located under one of the bedrooms of the house.

Through search conducted in the mentioned address, as prescribed by law, body parts, a skull, bones as well as clothes and other items of interest for the investigation were found and confiscated.  

47 year-old man was arrested on suspicion of killing N. Yaghutyan – the wife of his mother’s uncle and gave self-incriminating testimony.

Within the criminal case the members of the suspect’s family were questioned, forensic genetic examination was commissioned.

Preliminary investigation is ongoing.
