Preliminary investigation on 7 defendants within the criminal case initiated on 28 year-old man’s murder committed in May 9 Street of Shengavit administrative district of Yerevan was completed in General Department of Investigation of Particularly Important Cases of the RA Investigative Committee.

In the result of large-scale investigative and other procedural actions as well as measures taken jointly with the employees of the RA Police a number of circumstances significant for the case, the motive were found out, 8 persons involved in the incident were identified; they are fiends, residents of the same district of Yerevan.

Through investigation it was grounded that the reason of 28 year-old man’s murder committed in a way dangerous for many people’s life was the disagreement over issue of money.

It was found out that the resident of Hrazdan mediated to buy a motorcycle for his acquaintances living in Yerevan provided that the amount was paid within two days. However, the buyers did not fulfill the condition and when there was a requirement to pay for the goods, the latters arranged to meet to give the money. The meeting took place on June 9, 2020 at about 14:00 in the yard of the house N 9 on May 9 Street of Shengavit district of Yerevan with participation of 28 year-old friend of the resident of Hrazdan.

During the meeting the young men did not come to an agreement and left trying to solve the problem later on the phone which turned into an argument and an agreement to meet was reached.

However, in a short while – on the same day at 16:55 unexpected for 28 year-old man and the resident of Hrazdan, the young man who wanted to bւy the motor-cycle with prior agreement with a group of people, armed with pistols, rifles and a gun of different types and calibers procured illegally, returned to the same place in cars, parked them at the exit of the yard to ensure their safe and quick leaving after the incident and prohibit other transport means to enter the yard.

During the meeting the conversation turned into an argument and 28 year-old man, feeling the danger threatening to life and health, took a rifle of “Makarov” type of 9mm caliber from his apartment and demanded that those gathered there should leave. The latters ignoring the demand, for the purpose of depriving 28 year-old man of life, fired shots almost at the same time towards him causing bodily injuries incompatible with life and fled.

Besides, it was found out and grounded that two of those involved in the incident, being wanted for the committal of the mentioned murder, illegally procured and kept weapon of different types and calibers which were found and confiscated in the result of searches.  

It was earlier informed that 6 of those involved in the incident had been involved as a defendant according to the Points 6 and 7 of the Part 2 of the Article 104 and the Part 1 of the Article 235 of RA Criminal Code, two more – according to the Points 6 and 7 of the Part 2 of the Article 38-104, search had been declared and detention had been chosen as a pretrial measure against them. In the result of investigative actions, operative-intelligence, operative-searching measures 7 of those wanted were found and brought to the investigative body.

On the base of the obtained sufficient evidence charge was pressed against 2 people according to the Points 6 and 7 of the Part 2 of the Article 104 and the Part 1 of the Article 235 of RA Criminal Code (2 counts), 4 people – according to the Points 6 and 7 of the Part 2 of the Article 104 and the Part 1 of the Article 235 of RA Criminal Code and 1person – according to the Points 6 and 7 of the Part 2 of the Article 38-104 of RA Criminal Code.

Preliminary investigation on 7 defendants was completed, the part on them was separated as a separate proceeding and with a motion to confirm the bill of indictment and send it to court was sent to the prosecutor.

Preliminary investigation on the person wanted under the Points 6 and 7 of the Part 2 of the Article 38-104 as well as the person not identified involved in murder and illegal procurement of weapon is ongoing.

Note; Everyone charged with alleged crime offence shall be presumed innocent until proved guilty according to law.
